  1. This is such a lovely January weekend dish; rich and comforting and just so full of flavour. So often our weeknight dinners are a matter of how quickly I can get the food on the table so it’s nice to be able to take a bit more time sometimes to produce something really special.

    As a college student with limited kitchen supplies (meaning I don’t have a dutch oven). Could I ‘easily’ do this in a crock pot? Maybe sear in a pan and transfer for the pre-warmed slow cooker and continue directions as stated…

    • Hi Erin,
      You could absolutely do this in any large stainless steel soup pot too. As for a slow cooker, I am sure it would be great, but because I have never cooked with one (owing to my own limited kitchen supplies) I’m not exactly sure how the recipe will translate. What you outline sounds good, and you may want to pull up a slow cooker beef shank recipe for timing as well. Hope that helps! If you do make it, I’d love to hear how it works out!
